Huge blast in South Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): A huge blast rocked the busy Kuningan district area in South Jakarta on Thursday morning, with earlier reports suggesting that the explosion took place closed to the Australian Embassy.

Antara reported that the explosion occured outside the embassy building.
Radio and TV reports said that the blast damaged the fence of the Australian Embassy and cars parked inside.A number of office buildings in the area also reported of broken windows.

The explosion was heard from as far as two kilometers. A resident in Tebet, about two kilometers away, said she felt the ground shook.

The Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Firman Gani left a hearing with the House of Representatives for the blast site.

Police have already cordoned off the area.
